what makes vhs so good
as a 90’s kid there’s something nostalgic and real about true analog taped video, for most this is how your whole childhood was filmed.
VHS captures moments the way we actually remember them slightly imperfect, full of feeling, and unfiltered. It’s like finding an old family tape in the loft, except this time, it’s your wedding.
i shoot on actual video 8mm tape with a vintage Sony camcorder, this format brings back the classic home video feel with soft, grainy, a little wobbly look which is full of emotion.
this authentic analog video is available in the deluxe / complete package or can be added to the standard package for a small charge.
how it works
i use 8mm video slightly more compact than VHS but identical in image. It uses tiny cassette tapes that record footage the old-school way with magnets and spinning parts.
light from the scene hits the sensor them turns the image into an electrical signal then that signal gets sent to a recording head and uses magnetism to “write” the video signal onto the tape by rearranging tiny magnetic particles on the tape’s surface.
when you play it back that same head reads those magnetic patterns and turns them into moving images on screen. That’s why it has that soft, flickery, super nostalgic look.
no filters. No fake grain. Just actual tape, rolling through a 50 year old camcorder.
